We are absolutely fucked and do you even know???

"You could wake up tomorrow and all your jobs are in Mexico, whatever, it's this NAFTA bullshit-" "What the fuck is NAFTA? Sounds like a laxative. NAFTA." First, I apologize for the vile use of words, but like SWEAT, the wording has meaning and isn't just a colloquialism.  But seriously we are fucked and do you even know or matter-of-fact care? NAFTA, which stands for the North American Trade Agreement, benefited the three main countries of North America: the US, Mexico, and Canada. The trade agreement between the three would have eliminated trade barriers and tariffs. Isn't that great right? Wrong. Companies would benefit from this and move their company factories over to Mexico which SWEAT accurately described. This would be due to a variety of reasons such as cheaper labor and the removal of the tariffs which would allow maximum profits for the companies but would reap no benefits for the workers on the ground in the US.  Now, you might be asking, Eva...

The Great Gatsby fan fiction

Image
“Ok… and do you know what car it was?” Asked the police officer. “No sir… bu bu bu butt, the color was some greenish-yellow, and the car had a distinct whine to it.” Answered Wilson. “I know whose car it was and what car it is.” Replied Tom from the dark. “Really” questioned the officer. “Whose is it?”   A week later I should have known. I should have told Gatsby. The body sprawled in front of me in the pool lay lifelessly, only a few yards away was Wilson's body. With a hole in his head. Despite all this, I couldn’t help that I was forced to keep silent. Tom had all the leverage and threatened to kill Jordan at the next golf tournament if I told Gatsby that Wilson was coming. Now the media is talking all about Gatsby, press flooding the gates, and photos of the Hellcat with blood on the front bumper flooding the internet. God, what do I do? Well, the most logical thing is to have a funeral. Halfway across the world “Oh, thank God for our wealth. How else could...

Gold, Diamond, and status

Daisy, from the book The Great Gatsby, is often seen as someone who is filled with Gold, what gold is that??? The gold status is being the "Golden Girl", the ultimate female who everyone wishes to attain, for example, both Tom and Gatsby wanted Daisy, but what about Daisy? What did she want? In chapter 7, we witness the ultimate cumulation of everything, Daisy's ultimate confession to Tom, that she never loved him, and that was something that struck him deep down, but then... why did she marry Tom. When Daisy and Gatsby were together, Gatsby was a beautiful piece of coal, but not yet pressured into a diamond, because of this. When they parted ways, Gatsby was busy with his military life, and Daisy went to find gold, aka wealth, status, and glamor. From this Gatsby went and bounced high for him and for her. Purchasing a property just across from, just in sight. Gatsby, now forged into a diamond is now something that is appealing to Daisy and now she wants him... The end. B...

Lamborghinis and tax evasion

Image
Lamborghinis and tax evasion. You might be asking, why these two things? Well, that is the difference between the East Egg and the West Egg. One side is that through newly acquired wealth with business and entrepreneurship. The other side contained generational wealth where we see the passing of wealth to each new generation.   But to answer your question, why Lamborghini and tax evasion? To sum it up in short, new wealth usually consists of young to middle aged people who have earned their wealth and like to spend it on products like fancy bags or Lamborghinis. On the other hand, old wealth is acquired through the generation before, and the generation before that. They have the purpose to keep that wealth and make sure that none of that wealth is ever going to be taken away from them or from the government.   But what was the worst was the valley of ashes, in between the two peaks of wealth and prosperity, the workers, the poor ones with busted-up cars. The place w...
