Opportunities within Chaos

 When people think about "chaos" all they see are negative issues, like war, death, etc, although true there are sometimes opportunities that arise from problems like these.  Although many might say that it is harsh or even wrong to say something like this, I believe that they haven't thought it through. For example, in The Best We Could Do, why did Bui's family escape? It was because there was a war and at the time it was too dangerous for them to properly live the life they wanted to, so they moved to America. Now, someone would argue that, "OMG, what do you mean??? The parents had horrible lives and the kids also suffered too!" Bro chill, and think about the long-term effects, Bui's child had no effects of war on him and no memories of it. This is positive of it, people need to think long-term about effects such as these. Types of ways to show information

For the last few weeks, we have been reading comic books, graphic novels, and whatever you want to call them, and then we have watched movies. These and many other formats can display information to viewers. But which one is the best way? For starters, novels that only use words are less descriptive than graphic novels. This is because you can only be so descriptive with words, while other formats, such as graphic novels and videos, are better alternatives.   In class, the graphic novel we used was Thi Bui's, the best we could do. Bui's decision to format her journey as a mother and as someone learning their history and culture in the form of a comic allowed us to learn more compared to the traditional novel.
